New Scherer /Hall’s Island Park Info Sessions

Two opportunities are coming up to learn about and discuss the new park and related development coming to the former Scherer Bros. Lumber site in our neighborhood:

TUESDAY, June 14, 6:30 p.m.: Do you have questions about the build-out of the Scherer Brothers lumber company site (8th Avenue NE at the riverfront) into the newest park in Saint Anthony West? Or perhaps you have questions on the bike/walking trail from the Scherer Bros. site north past Graco ending at the railroad bridge at 17th Avenue NE and Marshall Street? Please join us for our first Saint Anthony West Neighborhood Organization “Walk and Learn” of the summer this Tuesday, June 14. We will meet on the patio of the Northeast Yacht Club (corner of 8th Avenue and Marshall Street NE) and walk to the new park and trail at the Scherer site with Deb Bartels, Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board staff. (Discussion may be inside if weather is an issue; all are welcome to attend.) Questions? Please call Michael Rainville at (612) 378-0431.

WEDNESDAY, June 22, 7 p.m.: Want to learn about and discuss development at “Parcel D” within the Scherer/Hall’s Island site? Our Riverfront Parks Committee meeting will be rescheduled from tonight to Wednesday, June 22, 7-8 p.m. at MainStreet Lodge, 909 Main St. NE. Design project staff from the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board will be joining us for this discussion. We’ll learn about the process planned for receiving and reviewing development ideas and offer neighborhood input on what should go onto Parcel D within the park. Everyone is invited to attend.
